LA VALUTAZIONE COME PROSPETTIVA TRANSDICIPLINARE NEL CONTESTO DEI SERVIZI ECOSISTEMICI

Abstract

Landscape design today needs to consider the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda with a focus on the notion of multifunctionality which finds many similarities with the concept of Ecosystem Service defined by the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment project. In this report, developed in 2005, for the first time the services offered by ecosystems and their relationship with the conditions of well-being were identified.  In line with these strategic lines, urban green areas, as well as peri-urban agricultural areas, constitute a real ecosystem and represent a competitive factor for the quality of life in cities. The translation of the ecosystem functions of the landscape into services and benefits constitutes a kind of bridging concept between an approach based on the instrumental values of nature, and an approach based on its intrinsic values. As a result of a literature review based on the topic of Ecosystem Services and landscape design, it is possible to highlight the lack and need for a tool for comparison and monitoring, to guide policies and projects.
