Abstract
The research activity was focused on the development of innovative urban and territorial planning techniques according to the Smart City paradigm, which recognizes in "Smart Urbanism”. The reasons why it is considered important to focus on Smart City stems from the fact that we are experiencing the so-called "Urban Age": a world in which cities already host today more than 3.3 million people, and that in the 2015 forecast, 60 of these will measure more than 8 million inhabitants. Cities are at a crossroads: by 2050 almost 70 percent of the world's population he will live in the cities. It is estimated that as many as 9,000 completely new urban centers will be necessary to accommodate this explosion. "Smart City" is a concept, an idea, "and conceptualizing means transforming this idea into something that can be understood and achieved. The strength of Smart Cities is to have integrated planning, one cooperation between different sectors, which are the fundamental elements to counteract the today's planning problems, such as the fragmentation of different parts.
