L’APPROCCIO SMART OUTDOOR PER AMBIENTI URBANI SOSTENIBILI

Pierfrancesco Celani, Paola Cannavò

Abstract

The quality of an urban space significantly influences city liveability. In an era in which buildings become increasingly "smarter", outdoor spaces need to evolve in a more attractive and shared direction, able to expand the opportunities and functionality for the people who live in it. In this context, the Laboratory of Urban Design of the DIATIC department of University of Calabria is exploring ways to extend the cognitive logic of the intelligent building to urban space in the COGITO project. A “smart outdoor” model is being outlined through the definition of categories (layers) and attributes (framework) that could assign to open space quality features to make it attractive, accessible and safe. A 2.0 open space, integrated by digital technologies, that will contribute to improve the quality of life in cities.
